Theo Verelst Diary Page

Web 18 july 2001, 13:18 PM

I've decided after good example to write some diary pages with toughts and events.

Oh, in case anybody fails to understand, I'd like to remind them that these pages are copyrighted, and that everything found here may not be redistributed in any other way then over this direct link without my prior consent. That includes family, christianity, and other cheats. The simple reason is that it may well be that some people have been ill informed because they've spread illegal 'copies' of my materials even with modifications. Apart from my moral judgement, that is illegal, and will be treated as such by me. Make as many references to these pages as you like, make hardcopies, but only of the whole page, including the html-references, and without changing a iota or tittel...

And if not? I won't hesitate to use legal means to correct wrong that may be done otherwise. And I am serious. I usually am. I'm not sure I could get 'attempt to grave emotional assault' out of it, but infrigement on copyright rules is serious enough. And Jesus called upon us to respect the authorities of state, so christians would of course never do such a thing. Lying, imagine that.

I'm not sure how much I'll write, but some essenses at least. I'm looking at the combination of my (C) sample processing software, the string simulator, the interaction time audio interface, and the before used inter program link, which is coming along but takes some thinking, and the socket interface on certain os-es may not be up to smooth interaction speeds, which is a pity or may take some work. Otherwise the whole could be quite an interesting piece of software, maybe with quickly extendible and portable tcl/tk interface, when I get it to link up smooth enough.

Live Music

I just heard another 70's pop song that for certain got me dancing, and I still find it top level: Le Freak (sample from a live version of 1999 actually, I didn't know they still did that), of course from Chic. The title made me think about 'Live Wires' which I think are fence wires with electricity to keep the cattle inside it, and the title of a yellowjackets CD I had. Modern jazz, that is, probably not absolute advanced top overall, but some songs are quite worth it, I've seen them live at North Sea Jazz some years ago. I liked a song on the CD which is clearly recogniseably based on gospel type of song, which is made into a kind of jazz that surpasses what I heard described as borrelnootjes jazz, which again I guess is one step further than elevator jazz. I tried a handfull of translation machines on the word borrelnootje, and all I got is that some xerox program can identify it as a dutch word, but it too didn't come up with an english translation. Coated nuts.

Yesterday I played maybe half an hour live again after some time, which was definately rewarding, a blues and two songs amoung which a very lose interpretation of no-woman-no-cry, completely out of nothing, with people I've seen but not much played with before, which is a challenge of course, and it worked, some real music actually came out of those speakers.

As an alternative to music, I have a habit of playing a piano in a church, last sunday evening I was talking with some people, amoung two being a woman who is (was) an ordained priest of the anglican system, though working in industry at the moment, amoung other things about faith, of course, the world, and some essentials in my opinion about such a system. As should be known, it usually is not the idea of the Holy Spirit to put people in a system as fulfillment of their God given ministry, often that will hinder instead of make them thrive, and evidently there is a catholic component in that system which without question in unacceptable, though as I stated, I distinctly heard the words I am a protestant during service there not too long ago. So one is a priest, and as I gathered also serious about their faith.

Clearly, that doesn't put a person above others who may be even more serious about that part of life, but what does it mean? Not that the situation is new, but the questions involved as whole sort of became clearly present in my mind again. What a system it must be in certain areas, I'm sure the remainders of the pagan religions from egypt to babylon are still very tangible for many. So what do I do there? Play the piano?

I had a look at the zyvex site, who are about making assembly facilities for molecular scale systems, and they had, top of some others, two new positions where about half the requirements I'd quite fullfil, about lets say molecular dynamics, and I guess at least again I've not been wrong about my bio pages' interests, the starting and some more advanced lines are in there, too. Simulating the reactions in cells, including the boudary flows, enzymes, and the molecules floating around charged and taking part in  chemical an physical interactions. Major simulations, how far would their models go? I thought about the bose einstein gas exercise (3.3 QMPS, Negele/Orland) I did some years ago, that is quite heavy physics, the molucular flow models I saw around in medical sector are more differential equation solver based, and the site even mentioned something like oscilatory systems simulations. I'd best get my whatever in gear at princeton or so, doing some heavy fundamental research, and make sure I have enough significant and fun developments going on at the same time, I think professionally that sort of deal (I was certainly kicked away from a number of years ago) would fit me and be liked.

All and all, playing the blues or other music I like beats most, but not all day. And there are other subjects.
